The number of financial advisers worldwide with the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation increased last year to 181,360.
The Financial Standards Planning Board, which manages the mark outside of the United States says the the goal is "to establish financial planning as a global profession and the CFP marks as the global symbol of excellence in financial planning."
New Zealand was ranked number 22, with just 285 CFPs. This is six more than in the previous year. This represents around 15% of the Authorised Financial Adviser population in New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Australia, which is ranked fifth has 5,694 CFPs.
The top four countries are: USA, Japan, China and Canada.
