Fidelity Life and Sharecare part company

Covid-19 blamed as Fidelity Life drop the app from their client offerings.

The partnership, which was launched last year, offered Fidelity Life policyholders access to the global health company app via smartphone and desktop. But chief customer office of Fidelity Life, Pete Doherty, said that the events of the past 12 months hampered the development of this partnership in New Zealand.

“Ultimately, the economic impacts of Covid-19 have meant we haven’t been able to make the progress we’d originally planned for,” he explains.

Members who use the app will still be able to access their information on Sharecare until December 31. There won’t be any New Zealand content on the app during this time, however. All registered users will be contacted by December 10 about the development, and by the end of the year for information regarding the next steps.

Fidelity Life are keen to reassure clients that their personal information remains safe throughout this transition period.

“[This will be stored] in Sharecloud’s servers in Australia until you decide to delete your account and the associated data,” says Anderson. They have provided this link that talks clients through this process.

It’s a disappointing end to a partnership that was much heralded by Fidelity Life at the time of its launch.

“This certainly isn’t the outcome we hoped for, but we won’t let it slow us down,” admits head of corporate affairs, Hamish Anderson.

“[But] we are focused on continuing the great momentum that we’ve built with our transformation and are excited about what lies ahead as we reimagine life insurance for New Zealanders. In particular, we’re looking forward to updating advisers on some new initiatives in early 2021, so watch this space.”
