Trust Management, has entered a strategic partnership with Nuveen, which managers assets of more than $2.3 trillion, to manage a ESG International Bond Fund.
Trust Management will make an initial investment of more than $55 million into the Nuveen Global Core Impact Bond Fund during the second quarter of 2025.
Nuveen managers were in New Zealand recently and presented at the Heathcote Partners Meet the Manager roadshow.
Through this investment, the management style for the Trust Management ESG International Bond Fund will change from an index-tracking strategy to an actively managed approach that aims to outperform the market.
The partnership marks a substantial milestone for Nuveen in expanding its impact investment offering in the New Zealand market. Investors across the country will now be able to access Nuveen’s performance driven capability in the global bond market through this relationship with Trust Management.
Trust Management general manager Matthew Goldsack said, “after extensive research, we have identified a global bond approach that our investors have been asking for, providing the prospect of healthy returns, and delivering those returns in a way that is ethical, with demonstratable and measurable impact.
He says the fund fills a gap in the market. "Nuveen’s proven track record, global reach, and deep investment capabilities make Nuveen an ideal partner for us as we continue to offer returns-driven ethical investment opportunities.”
Jessica Zarzycki, Portfolio Manager of the Nuveen Global Core Impact Bond Fund, said: “Our mission is to direct capital towards securities that offer measurable impact and to issuers demonstrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) leadership. By funding projects and initiatives through public fixed income markets, we strive to maximise environmental and social impact while delivering attractive total return potential."
