Stop the misleading talk around property

Friday 18th September

Hi

Heck, this debate on whether we need a capital gains tax (CGT) on property is generating some heat and discussion.

Much of it seems to be well off the mark and forgetting points made in last week's Blog, including the fact there is already a capital gains tax and it is being enforced.

Yesterday another paper, from some academics, was released suggesting there should be a CGT - read what they are saying here.

We come down on the side of argument that a CGT isn't necessary or appropriate. This was well articulated this week in a piece from NZ Property Investors Federation president Martin Evans - read what he says here.

Finish reading my blog here and don't forget to post your comments.

Have a great weekend.
Warm regards
The Landlord
