Are we into recovery mode? Recent economic indicators are in positive territory for the second consecutive quarter and migration numbers are ensuring demand for property remains strong.

Residential housing construction has already picked up over the first half of 2010 and is predicted to lift by 23% in 2011 as New Zealand's housing shortage continues.

In our recent survey of landlords, we found some interesting results. Only 1.7% said they are definitely exiting the property investment market. The large majority of investors said they will continue to be landlords and 21.4% said they will be buying more property.

Buyers have a slight edge over sellers with a solid number of listings and longer selling periods enabling investors to pick and choose the best deals and many are looking to take advantage of opportunities available now before the GST rise is imposed.
