Most borrowers ahead on payments

It says 44% of people with home loans were ahead on their repayments and just 2% of customers were behind on their loan repayments, but 44% were ahead.
In New Zealand 1.2 million bank customers have a home loan, worth $296,000 on average.
Around 56,000 new homes loans were written from July to December last year, and around a quarter of those loans were for first home buyers.
