NZ sharemarket up despite crypto concerns

Tuesday 2nd of December 2025

Heavyweights Fisher and Paykel Healthcare, Auckland International Airport and Infratil led the New Zealand sharemarket to a handy gain despite a sharp Wall Street dip on cryptocurrency concerns.

The S&P/NZX 50 Index opened weaker, hitting a morning low of 13,438.1, before recovering in the afternoon and closing at 13,502.77, up 54.28 points or 0.4%.

Who is responsible for notifying policy changes?
Of course it is the responsibility of the insurer to clearly communicate with its Policy holders, and Advisers together, regarding all changes on a Policy. There is at least one insurer that feels that a simple email to the Advisor on every Anniversary renewal is a bit too much for them! The Advisor has to be pro-active and chase renewal communications every year through the Insurer's website. Where is the responsibility of the insurer there?

Can the New Zealand Life Insurance afford further shrinkage? With AIA performing so poorly options to insure will fall to just Partners, Asteron ( Acenda) and Chubb for mainstream Life Insurers. Of course there is PSP but they have a very small, targeted client group.

Who is responsible for notifying policy changes?
There is no doubt the obligation is on the insurer who the contract is with. Clearly it would be prudent for an adviser to assist once given clear information by an insurer to assist with the communication but to extend this further. For an insurer to attempt to slide this onto an advisers plate is abdication. The adviser can not change the contract.
