Slower Auckland sets trend
Stock is up and demand is down in the Waikato region
Thursday 1st of June 2017
The property listing website’s May data shows that Auckland’s total housing stock is now up 50.8% as compared to the same time last year.
Realestate.co.nz spokesperson Vanessa Taylor said the city’s housing stock first started to increase in August 2016, which was the beginning of the slowing of the market.
At the same time, Auckland’s average asking price has stabilised – albeit at a high level.
May’s average asking price came in at $962,196 but it hasn’t gone up by more than 1% per month since September 2016.
