There are lots of ways you can support the victims of the Canterbury earthquake. Here is a story about what one financial adviser is doing. Please help out
Bernard Duncan has been doing his bit to help the Christchurch earthquake recovery effort.
Duncan has opened the doors of his Financial Solutions Canterbury office and has been housing the University of Canterbury Student Volunteer Army (SVA) and helping coordinate their relief efforts.
The SVA (who you have probably seen on television) was formed after the September earthquake and has been working alongside Te Waipounamu Foundation Trust to facilitate an ongoing student commitment to volunteer and community work.
Over the past two days 650 students have been helping to locate and feed students in city areas worst affected by liquefaction as well as clearing out the sand and sludge from properties.
Also individual carloads of students have been travelling to properties on a requested basis to assist with clearing liquefaction and helping people get their homes habitable again.
While most of this effort is dependent on donated goods and services, some elements require funding, so Duncan has called on the financial community to help the efforts of the SVA.
Monetary donations can be made into the following bank account:
