Trail insurance research moves to paid service

Wednesday 28th of October 2026

Fintech provider Trail has moved its online insurance research platform to a paid model after almost six months in beta.

The research, which was developed off the late Graeme Lindsay's Strategy product,  brings product ratings, policy information, side-by-side comparisons and estimated premium quoting into a single platform.

It competes against QPR's Quotemonster offering.

The Trail platform entered beta in April 2026, with more than 65 advisers providing feedback that shaped the final product. Paid plans are now available.

Trail Research holds ratings data covering hundreds of on-sale and legacy insurance products across 33 providers. Its quoting tool generates estimated first-year premium quotes for nine current life and health insurers.

For advisers using Trail as their CRM system, the quoting tool can pull client information directly from Trail, allowing quote comparisons to be generated without manually re-entering client details.

Trail CEO Warwick Slow said the aim was to reduce friction in the research process.

Trail Insurance Product Lead Phoebe Rolfe said the launch was a step toward a more integrated insurance offering. “In 2027, we plan to build a new insurance advice process within Trail that brings product research into every stage of the advice journey, supported by accurate premium rates and product data.”
