RPRC Debate: Today’s policy settings unfairly favour the baby boomer generation
10 July 2015
The debate:
An intergenerational debate from the Government Economics Network hosted by the RPRC:
Today’s policy settings unfairly favour the baby boomer generation
The speakers have been assigned positions for the debate that may not necessarily reflect their personal views.
Becky Prebble, a Senior Treasury Analyst, will speak for the motion.
Dr Simon Chapple, a Senior Research Fellow in the Dunedin Multi-disciplinary Health and Development Research Unit, University of Otago, will speak against the motion.
This debate follows recent media attention: TV Debate (6 June) clash-of-the-generations--part-one and part two; and Radio New Zealand’s Insight programme: Pensions and tensions between generations (7 June).
But do we too readily accept an intergenerational divide?
