It's time to polish up your CVs and prepare to enter the inaugural Financial Planner of the Year Awards.Good Returns is pleased to formally announce that it is organising the Awards which are being sponsored by Armstrong Jones, National Mutual, Royal & SunAlliance and Tower Managed Funds. The Awards are also being supported by the Office of the Retirement Commissioner.
The Awards have been created with two aims. Firstly, they are about promoting financial planning to the public, secondly they are designed to encourage financial planners to aspire towards excellence in their profession.
Awards organiser Philip Macalister says there is a tremendous need to tell the investing public how financial planners can help them prepare for their retirement.
The Awards acknowledge there is good, professional financial advice available to New Zealanders.
"Too often financial planners and investment advisers are portrayed as being less than competent and professional," Macalister says. "This is not the case. There are hundreds of advisers operating in New Zealand who offer professional services and advice and help their clients achieve financial security."
The Awards competition is open to any adviser operating in New Zealand. Planners who enter the awards will be judged on their skills and professionalism, rather than on the amount of business they write.
Entrants will be judged on the following criteria:
- competency
- professionalism
- communications skills
- knowledge of current issues
- input to the profession
- marketing ability
- career achievements
- extracurricular contributions made to the community
