First NZ Capital won the sharebroker of the year award and Westpac was nominated the top bank.
Infinz is a professional industry body that came about through the merger of the Society of Investment Analysts, and the Society of Corporate Treasurers last year. Its mandate is to operate as the industry body for finance and capital market professionals in New Zealand.
Financial education works
Investing in employee’s financial knowledge pays dividends, says a leading travel company.
Flight Centre managing director Graeme Moore says that since the company employed the services of an independent financial advisor for staff, loyalty levels and productivity have risen while turnover has decreased.
"The service is so popular the company is employing a second advisor to cope with the demand."
The division offers independent advice on budgeting, investing, mortgages and other aspects of finance. Nearly 90% of staff have used the service since it was introduced in 1997.
Improved market pages
Good Returns’ market page has had a major makeover to make it the ideal place where you can catch up on what’s happening in the share and debt markets.
The content, which was spread over a number of pages, has been combined into one, and new data such as overseas share indices and NZX announcements have been added to the page.

Ratings service expands in NZ
Rapid Ratings says it will offer a full rating service in New Zealand of listed and unlisted companies for all investors, lenders, creditors, consultants and other parties.
The company currently rates the top 100 NZX companies for institutional investors, but intends to offer a subscription service to the general public.
Its service rates the level of risk within and across companies based on global standards, which permits investors and lenders to compare that level of risk with the rate of return or the cost of capital.
