Life-info.org.nz is designed to offer objective promotion of the value of insurance to New Zealand households.
It offers an "insurance 101" for singles, couples and families, which covers the types of insurance they might need and why. A glossary explains common terms and case studies show real life examples of insurance in action.
The site is being developed by industry veterans David Whyte and Brian Klee.
They said it was designed to be non-profit, but to educate consumers in a way that was not seen as direct promotion of any product.
"Our independence is your guarantee of impartial information aimed exclusively at promoting awareness of what life insurance does, how it can be of use to you, what all the jargon means, and where you can access more details."
Whyte said they were in the final stages of finalising the videos for the site, after which it would be launched to the public.
Life-info.org.nz intends to work alongside the Commission for Financial Capability's Sorted website, to offer consumers information about how to protect the financial assets they are working hard to grow.
