There will also be updates on the development of the association provided at financialadvicenewzealand.co.nz
Institute of Financial Advisers president Michael Dowling said the Financial Advice New Zealand working group wanted to be as inclusive as possible, and the online tool was one way to do that.
He said it would be another way that advisers could offer feedback on what they did – and did not – want from a professional association.
The working group is also trying to facilitate meetings with other industry groups.
“If anyone fears they are being missed out they can go to the website and it gives them a chance to voice their opinion and come up with ideas. It’s a chance to offer feedback after the roadshows as well.”
The working group is to hold adviser forums at 11 locations across the country between January 31 and February 9 next year.
“Amongst a range of topics, the adviser forums will gather input on what advisers want from their representative body - for their business and for their clients - and will explore advisers’ views on how we can build trust and confidence in the community, to provide greater opportunity for New Zealanders to benefit from quality advice,” said PAA president Bruce Cortesi.
Cortesi said the development of Financial Advice New Zealand was not intended to be a quick process and getting adviser feedback was essential. “We need to allow for everyone to be part of the build.”
Some advisers had told the working group that they were happy for them to get on and develop Financial Advice New Zealand, Dowling said, but others had said they were worried they might not have enough time to participate in consultation.
“Financial Advice New Zealand is the opportunity for us to collectively take a good hard look at what advisers want from their representative body, and how we as an industry can help more New Zealanders benefit from quality advice,” Cortesi said.
“We encourage everyone to visit financialadvicenewzealand.co.nz, browse the news and updates, check out the events coming up, and participate in the quick surveys.”
