A spokesman for HNZC said so far four of its homes had been allocated to those flooded out of their own houses, and it was also acting as broker for properties made available by other government agencies and private owners. The corporation's own housing stock escaped the floods relatively unscathed. Two homes were evacuated in Marton and one in Waitotara, but the tenants were able to return. In the Hutt Valley, 16 tenancies were flooded.
HNZC is part of the five One Stop Welfare Shops and three mobile teams operating around the region.
Anyone who needs housing help, who hasn't registered yet, is encouraged to do so.
