The Residential Tenancies Amendment Bill which covers boarding houses, waste water charges, $3000 exemplary damages, etc is one which has been withdrawn.
Also the Residential Tenancies (Damage Insurance) Amendment Bill is expected to complete its first reading on May 3 and be referred to the Social Services Select Committee where it will also be withdrawn.
The various proposals, contained in the separate bills are likely to be folded into the larger and wide-ranging review of the Residential Tenancies Act.
Landlords.co.nz understands the Minister is intending to put a set of recommendations to Cabinet as the next stage in the review of the Act sometime in May.
