Study: Region's economy pumping
Taranaki's economy is on a high, and the region is out-performing the traditionally economically dominant big cities, according a new report.

Venture Taranaki's latest Taranaki Trends economic report, which covers the region's economic performance for 2004, describes the year as one to remember.And it adds that this year is set to be a cracker as Taranaki continues to secure an increasing number of international events that will expand reasons for people to visit the region.
"Mad March (Womad, Mark Knopfler and REM), the Lions rugby tour in June, and the World Cup triathlon in November are just some of these events set to significantly benefit the Taranaki economy during 2005 – with more than a little fun to be had at the same time," said Venture Taranaki research analyst Belinda Salmon.
The report says that, economically, Taranaki enjoyed a solid 2004.
