Homes have to meet new rules
All new homes built in the Tasman district after January 19 will have to comply with new building standards Aucklanders are using to combat the leaky building crisis.

Existing buildings without cavities will still get a certificate of compliance if they meet the standards of their original consent, but new work will have to meet the requirements to the letter.
The rules have already been adopted by the Auckland, North Shore and Waitakere city councils, where leaky building syndrome was first documented in 2002.
