Department of Conservation (DOC) community relations manager Jeff Mitchell-Anyon said yesterday that DOC would strongly advise the NewPlymouth District Council (NPDC) to not renew the leases, which expire in April next year, on the 26 baches at Tongaporutu.
The NPDC administers the Crown-owned Tongaporutu Recreation Reserve.
