Christchurch council offers to test properties on former dump
The Christchurch City Council is offering 78 property owners on its former Sandilands dump free testing for toxic waste.

The properties are among 84 privately owned parcels of land on the former Aranui-Wainoni landfill, which was closed in 1942 and developed for housing.Six of the properties have already been tested by the council, with &ive fond to epceed New Zealandpguideldnes for(contaminants.
On Friday, the council sent a letter to each of the owners inviting them to a public meeting to discuss testing.
Environmental consultants Montgomery Watson Hazra NZ Ltd would carry out tests between August 9 and September 17, council environmental effects team leader Klaus Prusas said.
