Mount Maunganui property sells for $6m
A Mediterranean-style beachfront home has sold for a record $6 million as Tauranga's property market reaches staggering new heights.

People at a packed auction yesterday gasped and then clapped when Eves auctioneer Frank Vosper lowered the hammer on the home - smashing the existing two-month-old record of $4 million.Six buyers yesterday chased the 809sq m property on Mount Maunganui's golden Marine Parade.
Three were still in the hunt as bidding flew past $5 million in $100,000 lots. Bidding started at $2.5 million.
"My heart was pumping - that's big money," Mr Vosper said. "When I put the property on the market at $4 million the hands came from everywhere and the bidding was flat out.
