Auck City Councillor Northey tries to reassure property owners that health risk low from soil contamination

Auckland homeowners faced with potentially contaminated soil are still angry, despite the Government's promise to help.Almost 5,000 homes in the region could have been built on land previously used as orchards and market gardens and contaminated with fungicides, herbicides and insecticides.
The Government is promising to help out with testing in conjunction with the city and regional councils.
A second public meeting was held by the Auckland City Council last night in Glendowie where locals voiced their concern about the impact on property values.
