Sinking house doomed from the beginning
Witnesses are lining up to give evidence against Palmerston North City Council in an attempt to help Coromandel Court home owners Barry and Sheryl McKay get their money back.

Former Palmerston North city councillor Les Baty says he is prepared to go to court to support the couple. He believes the housing development, off Featherston Street in Palmerston North, should never have been built.Mr Baty - a councillor from 1989 to 2001 - has slammed the current council for its treatment of the couple, who are seeking to recover the cost of their $127,000 home.
The couple want compensation for their house, which is slowly disappearing into the ground because of subsidence on the site, which overlooks the Featherston Street Pit.
