Buying into flood zone
At least 31 properties in a flood zone at Henderson Valley Rd are now owned by Waitakere City Council.

About $6 million has been spent buying the properties after years of severe flooding.
Up to 20 families were evacuated from their homes last May when the Opanuku Stream burst its banks after heavy rain.
A number of properties were waist deep in water.
The council later met residents and eventually offered to buy the flood-prone sites.
