It was approved at yesterday's Cromwell Community Board meeting. A total of 42 residents living in Bell Ave, Roberts Dr, Fraser Crt, Innescort St and Melmore Tce will be affected by the new charges.A significant number of residents are using double the 720cu m (720,000 litres) limit a year, with six consumers using well over 2000cu m.
Council utility services manager Peter Greenwood said residents would be allowed 600cu m a year and then billed every four months for any excess use at 0.28c a cubic metre.
For residents using 1000cu m over the limit, that would amount to $280 a year.
