Auckland house prices leap
Auckland property prices hit a new high in September, the market unfazed by pre-election uncertainty, according to a major real estate agency.

Latest sales figures from Barfoot & Thompson show the average price in September was $469,356, up more than $17,000 on August and more than 13% ahead of the same period last year.The company made a total of 1,071 sales during September, 16% more than a year ago.
Almost half of all the properties sold by the company during September were for $500,000 or more, and 22% of properties sold for over $750,000, the company says.
Government agency Quotable Value has reported residential property values in Auckland rose by 5.8% in the year to September, up from 4.4% growth in its August survey.
