Luxury lodge plans challenged
An American billionaire's plans for a world-class luxury lodge and chalets with sunrise views of Cape Kidnappers are being put to the test.

The Environment Court at Hastings began hearing evidence yesterday over three appeals lodged against the multimillion-dollar coastal resort plans by Julian Robertson.The 72-year-old developer wants to build a small lodge and 24 guest chalets on his 2000-hectare Cape Kidnappers Station land, about 4 kilometres from the golf course he has already built. The land is above Black Reef Point with a gannet bird colony about 20 metres below.
The project was granted resource consent by Hastings District Council in December.
