Stark Bros manager Andrew Stark last night said his company had leased the units and on-leased them to the Forum Rarotonga's German owner. He said that while technically containers, they were not the typical transport variety and were fitted out with electricity, insulation, proper beds, ventilation and curtains.
Stark said he would be happy to sleep in one.
"Of course I would, why wouldn't I?" he said. "I don't see that anyone could complain that they are substandard accommodation."
