State Cinema 6 has approached the Tasman District Council to buy 740sq m of its Papps carpark which fronts on to Cambridge St. It has plans to build a two-storey, two-cinema complex with parking underneath. The council has suggested that proceeds from the sale could be used to develop adjacent council-owned land into carparking to offset the loss of about 30 parking spaces.
