Building consents slow
After two years of growth, the trend for new house consents appears to be flattening, Statistics New Zealand says.

That's not good news for Auckland, where a lack of supply is being blamed for soaring house prices.
Housing consent numbers are up 64% from March 2011 but are still almost a third lower than September 2003.
Industry and labour statistics manager Tehseen Islam said: "Following a sustained rise from 2011 to 2013, the trend for new houses seems to have levelled off. The number of new houses jumped 13% in April but hasn't changed much since then."
In August, there were 1633 new houses consented, as well as 127 new apartments.
