As a nation we used to be known for our hard-nosed approach to home heating.
Overseas visitors would often express amazement at New Zealanders heating only the living areas of their homes and bravely, even cheerfully, enduring ice-cold bedrooms, bathrooms and hallways.
However, now there’s a growing understanding of the importance of healthy homes and attitudes are changing fast.
The coroner’s ruling, which involved a critique of substandard living conditions, in the tragic Emma-Lita Bourne case, in 2015, led to a public outcry – and the case has ramifications for all landlords.
Safe, efficient housing is an absolute must, and no family should endure cold, damp accommodation.
And, bearing in mind average outdoor winter temperatures vary markedly around the country, it’s essential a bespoke heating solution is put in place for every property.
