Young investor Elliot Askew Jones
Never fear - there are ways to achieve it as young investor Elliot Askew Jones has discovered.
With his deep tan and thatch of wiry hair peppered in a haze of plaster dust from his morning site visit, 25 year-old Jones doesn’t fit the usual property investor mould.
And he’s not.
For starters, he’s much younger than most investors and he is still in the process of acquiring his own unit in Wellington – his first property.
However, he has completed over 50 property deals and more than 20 renovations in Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington.
In this month's issue of NZ Property Investor magazine, he explains how he has achieved this.
Most of his deals were part of a successful joint venture with an angel investor who was willing to share a 50/50 split of the profits made.
Other deals completed were negotiated to help friends secure investment property.
Given Jones started without owning a bean in September 2014, it’s hard to believe how far he has come - until you meet him.
His energy and enthusiasm for securing property deals is infectious.
However, he warns that just like anything worth doing that reaps huge rewards there’s always a catch: “The grind.”
But Jones’ kick-arse attitude has seen him swing from a degree in exercise and nutrition at WINTEC to becoming a full-time property investor in just a few short years.
