Cigna policy enhancements and new adviser toolkit announced

Changes made across categories have been informed by feedback from advisers, says David Haak, general manager distribution.

Sunday, November 29th 2020, 11:02AM

Definitions and benefits to income, mortgage repayment, complete disablement, trauma and premium covers have all been modified, with the aim of enhancing the experience of customers.

One of the key changes is the addition of a 10-hour disability definition to base income, mortgage repayment and premium covers. This is intended to give customers more flexibility when applying for a total disability claim.

The severity requirements for full trauma benefit criteria will make it easier for customers with a listed progressive condition, such as Alzheimer’s disease, to claim insurance benefits.

Cigna has also announced the launch of an adviser toolkit, which is a collection of digital tools including marketing guides which can help to promote advisor brands and maximise social media potential.

Haak, says that digital services have come into their own over 2020 with Covid-19 necessitating social distancing.

“More New Zealanders are making the switch to doing things online, including accessing financial services,” he says.

Additionally, from early November, Cigna has extended its business hours to be more accessible to advisers. They are now available for general operations, claims and underwriting from between 8am-6pm, Monday to Friday.

Haak says that, throughout the year, sustainability of offerings has been a key factor for advisers, and the changes reflect this.

“What we have hear consistently from [advisers] is the importance of having a sustainable product and service offering that will support you and your clients now and in the long term.”

“Our latest product and service enhancements are further examples of how your insights are helping to shape what we do.”
