Cigna ups offers to advisers - enhances products

Cigna New Zealand has made a series of enhancements to its product and service offerings including a new "pay later" feature and making its multi-policy discount permanent.

Wednesday, October 20th 2021, 12:13PM

Simon Tohill.

Cigna distribution general manager David Haak says that in response to adviser feedback, a new pay later feature for customers taking out new cover is now available on Cigna’s electronic application form (eApp).

“You talked, we listened. This new feature will allow customers who have been referred for further underwriting the option to wait until they have completed the process before providing their payment details."

He says it is one of several eApp enhancements Cigna will be making in the coming months.

Cigna has also made its multi-benefit discount a permanent feature of its product offering following positive market feedback on the campaign released in September last year.

“Advisers have told us about the difference the discount has made for their customers when taking out new cover. As well as making it permanent, we’ve simplified the discount and removed any age eligibility criteria,” says Cigna's strategy and marketing general manager Simon Tohill.

The new discount on Assurance Extra will provide a 5% discount to customers taking life cover with one other qualifying cover and 7% to those taking life cover with two other qualifying covers.

The discount will be offered to all new business quoted and issued after October 18, 2021.

The discount can also be applied in conjunction with Cigna's "Good things come in twos" offer which is available to independent financial advisers and their customers until December 17, 2021.

"This means not only will new customers receive a multi-benefit discount on their cover, they’ll get the first two months of cover on us,” Tohill says.

The changes are complemented by Cigna’s latest enhancements to its advice-based covers and the release of Cigna’s Business Assurance policy wording in plain English.

“We’ve made a series of enhancements to our definitions and benefits across our Assurance Extra, Business Assurance, Business Extra and Agribusiness Extra Covers to ensure they’re continuing to meet the needs of our customers not only now but in the long term,” says Tohill.

Cigna’s Business Assurance policy is its fourth policy to be released in plain English and will be issued to all customers taking out Business Assurance cover from October 18.
