nib getting back to normal

Despite the ongoing health restrictions across New Zealand, nib has kicked off its nationwide in-person Highway to Health roadshow, with Hamilton and Tauranga the first locations on the map.

Saturday, February 12th 2022, 11:11AM

nib has pushed ahead with its 18 shows across 15 locations up and down the country and says the company has taken the view that it’s time to “get back to a functioning society.”

With New Zealand still at the red setting of the Covid-19 traffic light system, head of Adviser Distribution at nib Chris Carnall, said the the wellbeing of both employees and adviser partners is a priority.

“Our decision to proceed with the roadshow wasn’t taken lightly but we’ve taken the view that it’s reasonable for nib to use the government guidelines to inform how we conduct our business safely in these times.”

After the opener in Hamilton on Thursday, Carnall said, “Everyone in the room was very keen to be able to have some face-to-face time with each other as much as anything.”

“If what we are doing can encourage more advisers to have more conversations with people in their communities about looking after their health and wellbeing, that's a great outcome as well.”

“We've pro-actively complied with everything that the government’s mandating as it relates to Covid, we think that the sorts of things and the messages that we are giving advisers at these roadshows are very important for them to take into their communities,” he said.

The Highway to Health roadshow will focus on health management programmes and how advisers can help their clients take control of their wellbeing and prevent or delay serious health issues. Covering off group health would also be important at the roadshow, Carnall said.

“There’s no doubt with the current employment market, unemployment is terribly low, attracting and retaining good quality staff has become a real challenge for employers, the group segment of this is to help inform advisers about the opportunities that exist by having conversations with people in their client databases.”

The insurer said the roadshow was a great opportunity for advisers to meet again to engage, but within the safety guidelines that are mandated and required.

The roadshow will now take in Queenstown, Invercargill, Dunedin, Timaru, Christchurch, Whangarei, Auckland, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington and Nelson. With the final seminar in Auckland on February 25.
