Asteron Life is extending the benefits of the Best Doctors service to new and existing customers with Trauma Recovery and Cancer Cover.
Best Doctors provides users with access to an international network of medical specialists, to support with everything from heart disease to migraines. Asteron Life already makes the service available to customers with disability insurance products and to eligible insurance advisers.
Asteron Life, Head of Life, Grant Willis says the move is an evolution of the company's partnership with Best Doctors.
“When it comes to the mental and physical health of our customers, supporting them to get the very best advice is paramount. With Best Doctors, that’s exactly what you get – access to world leading medical experts who can answer your questions or give you a second opinion,” says Willis.
“Life insurance is about providing support to our customers when they need it, and Best Doctors enables our customers to make medical decisions with confidence when they are going through a tough time. Better yet, it’s included at no extra cost.”
Asteron Life has offered some customers a range of Best Doctors benefits since 2013, including Ask an Expert and Expert Medical Opinion. The updated service includes online GP consults, enabling customers to get quick access to New Zealand registered GPs within 24 hours, and the new Mental Health Navigator service, which provides direct access to mental health experts.
Mental Health Navigator assists New Zealand residents aged 18 and over, whether they have reached out for help before or not. The service also provides general advice on mental health conditions and guidance on how to navigate the mental health system.
Best Doctors New Zealand manager Mike Morris, says, “following the extension of Best Doctors being made available to those Asteron Life customers with disability insurances in September 2020, we have seen a marked increase in people accessing the service and getting the assistance they need at a time when it is needed most. Now, with the addition of Trauma Recovery and Cancer Cover policy holders, our services will reach more New Zealanders than ever before.”
Willis says the benefit makes Best Doctors available not just to insureds, but also to their partners, children, and parents.
