Salt's Long Short Fund has won the 2023 Australian Equity Award at the With Intelligence HFM Asian Performance Awards in Hong Kong.
It was a finalist amongst a field of well-known Australian funds and is the first NZ-based fund to receive this award.
The Salt Long Short Fund was started nearly 10 years ago to provide a unique alternative to NZ investors. The aim is to deliver equity-like returns over the long term but with no correlation to equity markets and with less than half their volatility. This Award assesses returns relative to risk over the last 12 months and shows that we have delivered.
"The last decade has seen bull markets, bear markets, melt-ups and melt-downs. This fund has had many investment triumphs, the occasional error and a large number of solid investments in between these extremes. Through it all, we have diversified and managed to consistently grind out positive absolute returns irrespective of the market backdrop, with 31 out of 37 quarters being positive," Salt says.
