Celebrating Excellence in Ethical and Impact Investing: Mindful Money announces broader entry criteria for the annual Awards and a new category

Entries are now open for the Mindful Money awards, celebrating excellence in ethical and impact investing. These awards are judged by skilled, independent judges and have earned the reputation as a credible badge of excellence for the finalists and winners.

Tuesday, March 12th 2024, 4:02PM

This year, the awards have been opened up to include other fund managers as well as managed funds.

Barry Coates, co-CEO of Mindful Money explained: “Ethical standards have been embraced across the funds management sector, and we are excited by the prospect of new entrants from the leading private equity funds, venture capital funds, wealth managers and government entities such as the NZ Superannuation Fund.”

There have been strong initiatives by trusts, foundations and charities in investing for positive impact and for climate action. This year, the awards have opened up to asset owners for the Best Impact Investor and Best Investor for Climate Action.

Barry Coates commented: “Asset owners are crucial in deepening the practice of ethical investment and extending it to seeking positive impacts and strong action on climate change. There are some exciting initiatives underway that have been driven by community foundations, trusts, charities and others.”

The awards include an award for the Best Ethical Financial Adviser. This is always one of the most anticipated of the awards and keenly contested. This year, we are extending entry invitations to New Zealand’s major wealth managers.

Barry Coates said: “We will be excited to see the applications from New Zealand’s wealth managers. They have expertise and experience in responding to client’s preferences and values, and developing bespoke solutions. We are also keen to see entrants from leading independent financial advisers. They have a crucial role in providing ethical advice to clients, including meeting the growing demands for positive impact investing.”

“This year, for the first time, we have a People’s Choice category. The New Zealand public will be invited to let us know their choice on their favourite ethical investment fund. We are looking forward to hearing about their choices.”

The award entries are available at https://awards.mindfulmoney.nz/. Entries close at midnight on Thursday 4th April 2024.

Barry Coates concluded: “The broadcaster, Jesse Mulligan, will return to MC the awards again this year, leading off the celebrations. The awards follow an afternoon conference that brings the investment community together around scaling up investment for positive impact. There will be roundtables for participants to get involved, panels to discuss the why and how, and inspiring speakers.”

The conference and awards will be held in Auckland CBD on Wednesday 12th June. The conference starts at 2pm and the awards at 5.15pm. Early bird tickets are available until 1st April https://events.humanitix.com/mindful-money-conference-and-awards-2024
