Lindsay sells Strategy Reserach to Trail after cancer experience

Graeme Lindsay has decided to sell his insurance industry research business Strategy Research to Chuck Slogrove and the team at Trail Ltd from April 1 with Davies Financial and Actuarial engaged to do “the complex technical stuff.”

Lindsay's decision follows his brush with pancreatic cancer with secondaries on the liver.

“This cancer is essentially incurable, but I live in hope,” Lindsay wrote to those who subscribe to his service.

After eight cycles of chemotherapy since his diagnosis in November last year, Lindsay says he has responded well and the tumours are shrinking, the cancer markers dropping and his blood tests improving.

“Nevertheless, the cold hard reality is that I can't guarantee to be here to continue to provide the Strategy tool in future, forcing the conclusion that it is time to pass Strategy on,” he told his subscribers.

Trail Ltd has undertaken to continue to provide the Strategy service in the same format and on the same terms as subscribers currently enjoy, he said.

Trail has provided CRM software for financial advisers in New Zealand for the last eight years and now supports more than 800 advisers.

It has engaged Davies, which is familiar with the software tools used to run Strategy and the first year premium comparison tool.

“Peter Davies and his team have subscribed to Strategy for many years and now will be responsible for continuing the technical stuff,” Lindsay says.

“I am confident that Peter and his team will continue the ratings and premium comparison tools that we have provided for almost 30 years now,” he says, adding that he launched Strategy in September 1994 and that he still has some subscribers from then.

“We have been working with Phoebe and Chuck at Trailto take over the administration of the Strategy Insurance Research tool.”

Lindsay says he will support the team at Trail over the next six months to ensure a seamless transfer.
