The New Zealand branch of Million Dollar Round Table has kicked off a three-pronged plan to grow its membership and activities locally.
MDRT differs from other associations and groups as it focuses on “soft skills” and what it calls the “whole person concept” which embraces personal development and values.
New Zealand chairman Rick Willis says members make it a priority to spend meaningful time with like-minded professionals so that they can build relationships based on sharing, mutual respect, and openness.
“This is the foundation for success and prosperity for all members, as those they interact with empower them to reach their highest potential.”
In its strategic plan it has three key planks: Growth, retention and engagement.
With growth it aims to achieve a target of 20% increase in actively engaged and collaborative MDRT participants each year.
This pillar focuses on enhancing new member engagement and fostering a sense of community through strategic networking and collaboration.
MDRT's engagement pillar centres around deepening existing member involvement through interactive forums, mentorship programs, and specialised training sessions.
MDRT NZ has an ambitious retention target aiming for a retention rate of 95%.
It aims to ensure “the majority of members remain active and derive continued benefits from their MDRT affiliation.”
This week it held the first of its “Lunch and Learn” events. Here members meet, generally at a sponsors’ offices, and hear from a guest speaker while having lunch.
MDRT NZ has started its “Beers and Ideas” events. These are online peer groups meetings held in the afternoon with a different feature topic each time, where members discuss and share ideas..
In October MDRT will hold a national roadshow in Auckland and Christchurch with guest speakers from overseas.
MDRT NZ currently is larger than its Australian counterpart and has around 110 members, up from 87 last year. This year at least 30 advisers will be attending the MDRT Annual Meeting in Vancouver next month and that could swell to as many as 40, Willis says.
