Chubb Life launches moderate trauma cover

New trauma option provides customers with more flexible protection.

Thursday, April 10th 2025, 12:32PM

Chubb Life has launched a new Moderate Trauma Cover option under its Assurance Extra product, expanding its range of trauma insurance solutions to offer more flexibility for customers and meet their evolving needs.

Moderate Trauma Cover offers a more affordable alternative to Trauma Cover. It provides protection for the same Full Trauma Benefit conditions as Trauma Cover, but requires a higher level of severity to be met on 11 of the more common conditions to be eligible to claim.

Simon Tohill, General Manager, Strategy and Marketing at Chubb Life New Zealand, said, "We're giving customers greater choice in how they structure their protection to suit their needs and budget. They now have the option to take Moderate Trauma Cover on its own or mix and match their protection level across both our Trauma and Moderate Trauma Covers. They'll also have the choice to take out our Continuous Trauma option on both covers for added peace of mind."

Alongside the release of Moderate Trauma Cover, Chubb Life NZ has announced a further series of product enhancements.

These include a Newborn Children's Benefit to provide additional support for families and a Moderate Trauma Conversion option under Assurance Extra Trauma Cover. New policy review and cover term options have also been added to the Life, Trauma, Complete Disablement and Monthly Disability Covers under Assurance Extra Business to provide more flexibility for business owners.
