Christian Carrillo has joined ANZ Investments as Head of Asset Allocation.

He brings extensive global investment experience, most recently as a Managing Director at BlackRock in Japan.

His background spans portfolio construction, strategic and dynamic asset allocation, and investment research, with a strong track record of translating macro insights into portfolio outcomes.

Carrillo will lead the development and implementation of the asset allocation strategy, working closely with the broader investment team to enhance performance outcomes and risk management across our KiwiSaver and diversified funds.

Carrillo says academic research shows that, for diversified portfolios, getting the asset mix right is one of the most important drivers of long-term investment outcomes.

He says, on LinkedIn, "After 14 exceptional years with BlackRock in Tokyo and Singapore before that, I have made the move to New Zealand — a decision driven by both a fantastic professional opportunity and the opportunity to live in this amazing new location."
