A new laird for Whyte

Monday, November 18th 2002, 8:59AM
Bernard McCrea has been appointed to the position of acting general manager of the AIA New Zealand, replacing David Whyte who is moving to Australia.
Whyte has been appointed managing director for AIA Australia.
McCrea says his to continue to grow the company and build the AIA brand as one that is "easy to do business with, is smart, responsive, innovative and committed to our clients."
"The strategic planning and brand building process that David started to create a ‘great company’ is well underway and will continue."

He says, "it is an interesting time for the insurance industry as we see a number of insurance companies either exiting the market or, having difficulties with their operations in New Zealand and Australia."
Whyte, aka the Laird of Takapuna, has run AIA in New Zealand for more than seven years.
McCrea says "that given the very strong relationship I have with David, and with the encouragement of AIG internationally, we plan to work closely to share ideas, resources, talent and technology in ways that will help us both with our new roles and responsibilities."
