Current head, Craig Swanger, has accepted a senior position in Macquarie's Sydney office, but will stay in Auckland on a project-based role until December.
Swanger says Rowley's appointment is "further evidence of Macquaire's commitment to New Zealand."
Rowley will help drive Macquaire's continuted retail expansion in the New Zealand market.
Macquarie has also appointed David Tetro to its New Zealand equity sales team. Tetro was formerly a JP Morgan sales executive.
