Morningstar has appointed Justin Walsh as head of research for its Australian business.“Justin’s extensive background in the Australian financial services industry – and in particular, his experience in providing research to financial advisers – made him the outstanding candidate for our Head of Research role," Morningstar Australia chief executive Scott Cooley says.
"Justin will play a leading role in our provision of cutting-edge research products and services to help advisers with Australian investors’ wealth management. We also warmly welcome the contributions he’ll make to the senior management team at Morningstar," Cooley says.
Walsh was most recently an asset consultant with Towers Perrin, responsible for delivering asset consulting services and investment research. Prior to this, he was national research manager and an associate director with Macquarie Financial Services. In this role, his responsibilities included research and management of managed fund recommended lists for financial advisers, and investment committee membership.
Walsh has also worked in senior investment taxation and accounting roles with KPMG and Gould Ralph & Company, has degrees in applied finance, accounting, and engineering from Macquarie University and the University of New South Wales, and has completed the Diploma in Financial Planning through Deakin University.
