The Investment Consulting Practice in New Zealand is being merged with Mercer's Australian operation. The current head of the Australian Investment Consulting Practice, Christopher Andrews, will head the combined Australia/ New Zealand business.
Peter Verhaart will remain responsible for the day-to-day management of the New Zealand Investment Consulting Practice.
Boulanger has worked for Mercer since 1986 in a variety of senior roles. He started up our Christchurch office and used this as an opportunity to introduce the investment consulting practice to New Zealand. Louis moved to Auckland in 1997 following his appointment as chief executive.
Boulanger says "it is now time for me to take my leave after 18 years of service and take this opportunity to explore other avenues."
"My next career goal is still somewhat uncertain at this point, but my preference is to operate independently.
"Corporate boards urgently need more investor advocates in my view and I intend to play an active part, as an independent director, in ensuring that investor interests always come first. Trustees could also benefit, in my view, from having more independent representation on their boards and so, I will be pursuing opportunities to serve investors as an independent trustee as well."
