ASB Bank gets new head of managed funds

John Smith has been appointed as general manager, managed funds at ASB Bank. Smith has 19 years experience in financial services both in New Zealand and overseas and has been manager, strategy and products for ASB Group Investments for the past two years. He will be responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the managed funds business.
Rob De Luca, Head of ASB Group Investments, will continue to have overall responsibility for the three companies.
“John’s appointment to this role is an integral part of the changes being implemented over the next several months to ensure that the ASB Group Investment businesses can focus on their core competencies, leverage the relative strengths and achieve scale efficiencies. It positions us for growth,” Rob De Luca says.
In addition to this, Mark Ryland has been appointed to the role of General Manager, Finance, Risk and Strategy.
Mark Ryland has been in the role of Manager, Finance and Operations with ASB Group Investments for the past two years. He was previously at Guardian Trust as Operations Manager for one year having previously worked for seven years with Zurich Financial Services in the United Kingdom as Assistant Director of Operations.
These appointments are part of ASB Group Investments recent reorganisation which has been designed to align the core competencies of the three businesses across the goup – these being AEGIS, Jacques Martin and managed funds.
