Curtin reappointed to Commerce Commission

Thursday, December 22nd 2005, 4:30PM
Leading economist Donal Curtin and Peter Taylor have been reappointed to the Commerce Commission.

"Peter Taylor and Donal Curtin have ably applied their skills in the financial, business and governance areas to competition issues and their re-appointments will provide the Commission with a continuity of knowledge and experience," Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel says.

Curtin is a business economist and professional director with wide experience. He has worked in a variety of economist roles before immigrating to New Zealand in 1985 and to take up the role as the Bank of New Zealand's chief economist. He later headed the bank’s national financial adviser team. In 1999 he set up a consultancy, Economics New Zealand. In 2002 he was appointed as the Monetary Policy Adviser to Parliament’s Finance and Expenditure Select Committee and in 2004 as a director of the Public Trust. Curtin has been re-appointed for three years commencing on 21 December 2005.

Taylor is an accountant, self-employed company director and consultant with over 35 years business management and restructuring experience.
