Alister Van Der Maas has joined the institutional investment team as a senior consultant and Amanda Beeslaar has been appointed to the retail team.
Van Der Maas is returning to New Zealand from the United Kingdom where he worked for companies including Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and Schroder Investment Management. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a MBS (Hons) in International Business Management, Marketing and Japanese from Waikato University.
Beeslaar has immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa where she worked in financial services for 17 years, eight of those as a sales consultant on retail investments to independent financial advisers. Her background includes business development and investment product marketing with a strong focus on alliance relationships and product support.
Van Der Maas will be working with Russell’s institutional clients, while Beeslaar will be responsible for the company’s relationship with independent advisers.
Russell Investment Group New Zealand managing director Edward Schuck said the offshore experience both Van Der Maas and Beeslaar brought to the Russell team would benefit advisory clients and many types of investors during the period of change that New Zealand is experiencing.
"With changes come opportunities. Russell’s job is to ensure investors take advantage of global capital markets and capitalise on the opportunities created by changes in workplace superannuation and the taxation of investment income in New Zealand."
